As DBi’s Chief Operating Officer, Cilento will drive the expansion of the firm’s operations ahead of continued asset growth and the launch of new liquid alternatives strategies in 2019 and beyond
Cilento (pictured) joins DBi with an extensive 18-year track record. At AQR, he managed the Trading team responsible for execution and strategy implementation across global markets in all liquid asset classes. His team focused on building automated trading strategies to deliver low-impact trade implementation, operational efficiency and risk reduction, and best-in-class execution.
Prior to AQR, Cilento was the head of electronic FX trading (pricing and risk management) for the Americas region at HSBC. His work there helped grow the business, reduce operational risk and increase trading revenues for the eFX business. Additionally, Cilento spent six and half years at Bridgewater Associates as a trading desk manager and senior macro trader, where he collaborated with portfolio managers, quantitative analysts and technologists to design and implement systematic execution strategies.
As DBi’s Chief Operating Officer, Cilento will drive the expansion of the firm’s operations ahead of continued asset growth and the launch of new liquid alternatives strategies in 2019 and beyond. Additionally, he will be tapped to further enhance execution quality and strengthen relationships with institutional clients.
“Throughout my career, I’ve strived to keep trading teams well ahead of trends and developments in the industry,” Cilento says. “The work that DBi has been doing for 10 years to deliver a unique combination of performance, lower fees, liquidity and transparency is really moving the smart beta market forward. I’m excited to join such an innovative firm and to help accelerate the company’s growth, especially as liquid alternatives start to play a more prominent role in institutional portfolios.”
“Doug’s deep trading expertise and commitment to operational excellence will be vital as we embark on a period of rapid growth for our company,” says DBi Founder and Managing Member, Andrew Beer. “With this key appointment, we expect to further elevate the quality of our investment products, relationships and execution.”
Mathias Mamou-Mani, Managing Member of DBi, adds: “With the support of our strategic partner, iM Global Partner, we have every aspiration to become a leader in the development of innovative liquid alternative products with reasonable fees relative to traditional hedge funds.”
